When The Walking Dead Season 4 ends, Lauren Cohan’s (Maggie Greene) journey will just begin on Archer.
Lauren recently recorded a multi-episode arc for the FX show, and Entertainment Weekly says her first ep will air Monday, March 31 at 10 p.m. ET. That puts it exactly one day after TWD’s Season 4 finale on Sunday, March 30. (It’s Maggie’s March Madness!)
On Archer, Lauren will be voicing a character named Juliana Calderon; she’s a European socialite married to a brutal Central American dictator (voiced by Portlandia’s Fred Armisen). As EW teased, “It seems Juliana’s status as First Lady allows her anything she wants. So what does she want? Archer!”
Lauren loved the gig, telling EW, “It was really fun and a really good comedy break from the usual. It’s maybe the most fun I’ve ever had.” More fun than slicin’ zombies and gettin’ busy with Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun)?! Not possible.
Archer, like The Walking Dead, is mostly based in the Atlanta area. One of Lauren’s fellow TWD stars, Michael Rooker (Merle), also had a part on Archer. Stars like Jon Hamm, Darren Criss, Bryan Cranston, and Timothy Olyphant have recorded roles, too. Lauren’s TWD love, Steven Yeun, also recently added his voice to an animated series, Nickelodeon's Legend of Korra.
We’ve been well-trained to worry about all TWD characters at all times, but since Lauren already recorded her episodes, it’s probably not a sign that Maggie is leaving TWD. Season 4 filming ended back in November anyway, and Season 5 won’t start shooting for a while, so this may just be a cool off-season gig.
Will you watch Lauren (or at least her animated character) on Archer this spring?
The Walking Dead Season 4 returns with Episode 9, “After,” on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
