Well, Catelyn Stark may be dead, but actress Michelle Fairley will live another day. The Game of Thrones actress has been cast in Fox’s 12-episode revival of 24, entitled 24: Live Another Day.
The popular Kiefer Sutherland-led thriller will pick up again in London, where an exiled Jack Bauer is on the run from the CIA and trying to stop “yet another global disaster.” So basically, same old Jack, but with more Big Ben!
Michelle will play the role of Margot, a British national who was married to a deceased terrorist. The role originally belonged to Aussie actress Judy Davis, who dropped out citing “personal reasons,” according to TVLine.
Fans of the Song of Ice and Fire book series may be wondering what that means for the future of HBO’s Game of Thrones (and fans who haven’t read the books should probably go read something else now, because SPOILERS AHEAD).
Though Catelyn as we knew her may be deceased, fans who’ve read far enough past the Red Wedding know she’s not exactly gone. Lord Beric Dondarrion will trade his life for hers, resurrecting her in the form of the vengeful Lady Stoneheart. This all factors into an important storyline ahead, so will Michelle be returning to play her undead alter ego, or will they hire another actress (or use CGI)?
Since the return of 24 is such a limited run, we don’t think it’s time to panic yet, but we’ll keep our ears to the ground.
