Grey’s Anatomy: Sarah Drew Gets “Gray’s Anatomy” From Mother-in-Law (PHOTOS)
Some people might think that Grey’s Anatomy comes from main character Meredith Grey’s last name, and they would be right — but the show’s name also has deeper roots. It’s also the namesake of Gray’s Anatomy, a human anatomy textbook written by Henry Gray, a surgeon, that was first published in 1858.
Knowing this, we can’t imagine a better gift for an actor on Grey’s than Gray’s Anatomy, the book — and that’s just what Sarah Drew (April Kepner) received from her mother-in-law recently!
Sarah tweeted a photo of her copy — the 23rd edition — last week. “One of the coolest gifts I’ve ever received!” Sarah said. “From my amazing mama in law! Thank you Sam!”
Later, she added a photo of one of the diagrams in the book. “Color printing in a 1936 edition!” she said, showing off one of the book’s yellowed pages. “So freaking cool.”
We’d have to agree — not only are old books awesome, but there’s a lot of history in that book.
We hope Sarah’s using her new book to brush up on her surgical skills. We know she only plays a doctor on TV, but it can’t hurt to make things looks a little more realistic, right? And, hey, you never know when an emergency might come up in real life!
