Jesse Williams to Meet President Obama at “My Brother’s Keeper” Announcement

Move over, Derek Shepherd: You’re not the only Grey’s Anatomy doc who’s all set to meet the president! Our very own Jesse Williams (Jackson Avery) will be meeting POTUS himself today at Obama’s “My Brother’s Keeper” event at the White House.

“Honored to be w/ @BarackObama @CalEndow #SonsAndBrothers campaign & many others @ WhiteHouse this Thursday!” Jesse announced on Twitter on February 11.

According to The Washington Post, the event is the launch of an effort that will “bolster the lives of young minority men, seeking the power of the presidency to help a group of Americans whose lives are disproportionately affected by poverty and prison.” This sounds right up Jesse’s alley, considering what an involved activist he’s been in the past.

The “My Brother’s Keeper” program will work toward making sure children maximize their time spent in school and minimize their time getting in trouble when they’re not in school, while Obama works with the administration to determine which community programs are most beneficial for these groups.

Maybe while he’s there, Jesse can sweet talk his old pal Barack into appearing on Grey’s as the president that Derek’s working with? Fat chance — but hey, we can dream!

Are you as jealous of Jesse as we are? Let us know what you’d want to ask the president if you got to meet him below!
