Downton Abbey Season 4: What Happens in the February 23 Finale?

People, this is it! Season 4 of Downton Abbey ends this Sunday on PBS. After last week’s surprising if not exactly upsetting news that Mr. Green (Nigel Harman) bit the dust, it feels like anything could happen in the two-hour episode airing February 23.

Keep on reading for an idea of what to expect in the Season 4 finale. We’ve got updates on the main characters for this year’s ending. If you want all of the details from the week’s installment, we’d be happy to clue you in. How do we know all the answers? Well, we watched the episode back when it premiered as the Christmas special on December 25, 2013. That means plenty of spoilers for you to enjoy!

Lady Edith
Hold on to your stockings, Downtonites! The finale starts eight months after the last episode, which means Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) has been to the Continent, had her baby in secret, and is now back at Downton. The decision to give her child up for adoption, however, may not be as final as it sounds.

Cousin Rose MacClare
It’s the start of the London Season and Rose MacClare (Lily James) is being officially presented! Her failed romance with Jack Ross (Gary Carr) seems a distant memory as Rose finds herself in the midst of yet more romantic trouble, this time featuring the Royal Family.

Tom Branson
Tom Branson (Allen Leech) looks to be in no rush for romance but the pretty schoolmistress we met last week sure is! Expect to see lots of her this week.

Lady Mary
Time hasn’t dampened the passion of Mary’s (Michelle Dockery) two main men: Lord Gillingham (Tom Branson) and Charles Blake (Julian Ovenden). Will we get a clear answer on which, if either, wins Mary’s heart? Yeah, not exactly.

New Character Alert!
Welcome to Uncle Harold! Cora’s troublesome brother (Paul Giamatti) arrives to spend the Season with the family...and keep a low profile from the U.S. feds. There’s a parcel of other new characters introduced but we think you’ll agree none take the cake quite like Harold.
