The Vampire Diaries

Rick Cosnett Teases Filming For The Flash Pilot — Get Ready For Eddie Thawne! (PHOTO)

Rick Cosnett is one enthusiastic actor — or maybe it’s just the awesomeness of the shows he’s on. Right now, we know him best as vampire-experimenting Dr. Wes Maxfield on The Vampire Diaries, but soon he will be playing the part of Eddie Thawne in the new Arrow spin-off, The Flash. What does he have to say in the lead-up to shooting?

“Getting ready to film #TheFlash This script, cast and crew are stoking the fires in my heart! #Flashtags #EddieThawne,” Rick tweeted yesterday, along with a photo of the script and his watch. We have to admit: we’re eager to see this project come to fruition, too. In addition to Rick, the cast includes the adorable Grant Gustin as Barry, as well as Danielle Panabaker and Jesse L. Martin. We’re pretty sure there’s no weak link in this superhero spin-off series.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Rick’s Eddie Thawne is “a star detective who recently transferred to Central City and harbors a dark secret.” Authority figures with dark secrets seem to be Rick’s thing. We hope he has even screen time in The Flash. Understandably, he isn’t one of TVD’s top priorities character-wise, but — on this new show — he might really have a chance to shine! And, according to Rick, we don’t have to choose between TVD and The Flash. In a recent Instagram, he assured fans that Dr. Wes isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. But can we trust the nefarious scientist?

Catch the next episode of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, February 27 at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
