There’s still a lot to clarify about Ezra’s whole deal. Like: what is written on those pages; the length and nature of his relationship with Alison; and why he needs to stalk the Liars to write his book. Why is he so desperate to find Alison? Is it just to work out the details of his book, or is there a more personal motive at play? So far, Ezra has offered as his defense for lying that he was afraid he would lose Aria. We’re not sure if that is good enough, but is there more to the story? Might the real “A” be involved? Perhaps, he or she is blackmailed Ezra into not telling Aria. It’s a stretch, but we’re not going to write the possibility of an Ezria reconciliation off completely until we know more — especially given how often the PLL Powers That Be have hinted Ezria is endgame.
No, the Justification Doesn’t Matter
On the other hand, how much can answers to the questions we still have about Ezra really make up for the massive amount of information he withheld from Aria? Not telling Aria from the get-go who he really was and what he was doing in Rosewood was totally sleazy. Every subsequent conversation since has only compounded the poor judgment. This wasn’t one mistake, this was the same mistake made over and over again. There may have been extenuating circumstances, but lying is lying. How can Aria ever truly know it won’t happen again?
Yes, But Not Because He Deserves It
We might be looking at this question in the wrong manner. It doesn’t necessarily matter if Ezra deserves to be trusted again, so much as if Aria will trust him again — and, as Hanna pointed out, Ezra is Aria’s addiction. Will that change in light of recent developments, or will she eventually return to Ezra’s side because she can’t stay away? This isn’t a particularly pleasant way to look at the Ezria relationship, but it may be the most accurate. We think there’s a good chance Aria will trust Ezra again — even if she shouldn’t.
Do you think Aria will ever trust Ezra again? Do you think she should? Sound off in the comments below!
