Pretty Little Liars: Who Is “A” If It’s Not Ezra? 3 Possible Suspects

With the Pretty Little Liars reveal that Ezra is not “A,” it’s back to the drawing board in an attempt to work out who the mystery villain or villainess is. Here are our top three suspects.

Wren Kingston

Paging Dr. Kingston! We’ve seen neither hide nor hair of the good doctor since his seriously sketchy behavior in Season 4, Episode 10. The Liars think he’s London, but we think he’s a heck of a lot closer, potentially watching their every move. We’ve been suspicious of Wren since he waltzed into the Liars lives in the pilot, “A” texts quickly to follow. He’s made moves on not one, but two of them, which is super creepy given that he’s a 20-something doctor and they’re still in high school. We think, like Ezra, he may have Alison before she disappeared, and that he was the one she’s afraid of. Everything that has befallen the Liars since has been part of “A”’s master plan to find Alison to finish the job he started.

Mona Vanderwaal

Of course, the Wren is “A” theory negates Mona’s turn as “A” for the first few seasons, implying that she was some sort of pawn rather than a player in her own right, and we don’t like that. Mona is smart, really smart, and she makes her own rules. The only thing better than finding out that Mona is the Liars true friend would be discovering that she is their true enemy and that she never relinquished the “A” throne and that, any acts of friendship she’s performed since have merely been to get closer to her targets. Mona hated Alison who tormented her prior to her disappearance, and she hated the Liars by association. Has that ever changed? Or is her relationship with Mike Montgomery her latest move to get closer to Team Liar and ruin them and Ali once and for all?

Alison’s twin

Nope. We’re still not ready to give up on this twin thing. There have just been too many clues along the way to suggest that there are not one, but two DiLaurentis girls. It’s the explanation in the books, and it has a sort of poetry to it. Alison’s twin would be someone we’ve met without knowing it, making her reveal as a villain personal, but not without sacrificing any of the characters we’ve gotten to know as a unsatisfying scapegoat. Plus, this explanation would also make Alison even more interesting as a character, which is hard to do given that she’s already an enigma. How did these sisters become enemies? In flashbacks, when were we with Alison and when were we with her twin? What does this mean for her relationships with the Liars? The possibilities for interesting character questions are endless!
