What's up, doc LeBron? That's right: NBA legend-in-the-making LeBron James is set to star in the sequel to the hit 1996 family film Space Jam. The original film — which grossed $90 million at the U.S. box office — focused on Michael Jordan competing with the Looney Tunes characters in a basketball battle to earn their freedom from some evil aliens. Y'know, which is what every movie is about these days.

This continues LeBron's effort to branch into other forms of entertainment besides sports. The NBA's reigning MVP has showcased his charisma and knack for comedy by hosting Saturday Night Live and appearing in many humorous commercials. He also played himself in an episode of Entourage. And while Bron-Bron is attached to several other starring film roles, he has yet to make his lead film debut.

If you weren't yet an adult by 1996, it's likely that you have fond memories of Space Jam — not to mention its amazing R. Kelly theme song, "I Believe I Can Fly" — and are probably embarrassed about how many times you used to watch it on VHS. Indeed, we can't wait for Space Jam 2! Let's just hope Bugs, Daffy, and the rest of the characters have been practicing their hoops skills over the past 18 years.

Are you excited for Space Jam 2? Or are you, y'know, dead inside?
