If The Voice contestant Bria Kelly seems uncommonly confident to you for her age, it’s because the 17-year-old powerhouse is no stranger to singing competitions. A semifinalist on Season 7 of America’s Got Talent, the blues singer from Smithfield, Virginia has only improved with age.
In addition to performing on a national stage two years ago, Bria’s website indicates that she has sung before stadiums and has been asked to sing the National Anthem before concerts for stars such country superstars as Taylor Swift, Rascal Flatts, and Blake Shelton’s wife, Miranda Lambert.
In addition to being an incredible vocalist, Bria plays guitar. With the aid of her roadies (aka her parents) the young singer has also a group of backing musicians, who call themselves the Bria Kelly Band. Together, they’ve become a popular live act in and around Hampton Roads, Virginia.
As the last four chair turn of Season 6’s opening night of Blind Auditions, Bria had her choice of coaches. Because of her strong country roots, you’d expect a singer like Bria to go with the obvious pick of country artist Blake Shelton. However, just as surprising as her gritty, soulful voice was her selection of Usher, who convinced her that following him would lead her to Grammy gold.
Honestly, we think Bria has enough talent to earn a Grammy no matter who her coach is!
