Update: Robert Kirkman says Jeff Kober is "definitely" returning!
The Walking Dead shocks us on the regular — Did they really kill off X? — but we got a surprise of a different kind during Season 4, Episode 11: “Claimed.” The ep premiered on Sunday, February 23, and featured another emotional run with Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs).
Meanwhile, still-sick Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) stayed behind and went on a suburban run of his own, stumbling into what he thought was a vacant house for a nap. Rick was awakened from his slumber when he heard several burly guys enter the house, and he spent much of the episode hiding under the bed, fearing for his life.
After Rick killed one of the men as he was doing his business in the bathroom (sorry, dude) he scaled the roof, gun in hand, and hid around the back of the house just out of sight of one of the other nameless men who was enjoying a beverage on the back porch and seemed to be in charge.
This mysterious leader was played by none other than Sons of Anarchy’s Jeff Kober. Rick was about ready to kill Jeff’s character when someone else inside realized there was a walker in the house (likely the guy in the bathroom Rick killed earlier) so he ran back indoors At that moment Rick spotted Michonne and Carl and rushed them away.
Jeff wasn’t even credited for Sunday’s episode on IMDb, but we could very well see him again. The group he was traveling with seemed interesting to say the least, and his character wasn’t killed, which in the TWD world means a return is always possible. The folks at TV Guide even speculated that this character is an early incarnation of comic book villain Negan, but we wouldn’t be so sure.
The Hollywood Reporter also made note of Jeff’s surprise TWD cameo, but even they couldn’t get any additional infor from the Powers That Be. “For its part, AMC declined comment on just whom Kober is playing and if we'd see him again,” the publication stated.
Were you surprised to see Jeff on TWD last night? Do you think we’ll see his character again? Tell us your thoughts and theories in the comments below!
The Walking Dead Season 4 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
