Grey’s Anatomy Kevin McKidd Shows Off Shapeshifting Set

The Grey’s Anatomy crew — and the set designers in particular — are practically magicians. They’d have to be, to pull off making Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital actually look like a real hospital. And while magicians don’t usually reveal their secrets, Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt) is giving us a little behind-the-scenes peek at how the sets actually work.

As it turns out, the walls on set actually move to make room for the crew and the cameras, which saves space while keeping the illusion of one complete hospital on camera. Pretty cool, huh?

“Betcha didn’t know our walls go up and down!!” Kevin tweeted, along with a photo that shows off how the walls work. One of the walls that separate a private room from the rest of the hospital is halfway up… window, door, and all. Whoa!

See, this is why we love when Kevin directs — he always supplies us with tons of pictures during filming. This is the kind of stuff we wish we could see all the time!

Did you realize the Grey’s sets had crazy moving walls? What other kind of TV secrets do you want to see revealed? Let us know below!
