Queen Mary’s Reign over your TV screen is coming to an end. Well, sort of. Only for this season! The CW has just announced the Season 1 finale date for its freshman historical drama that explores the dangerous, romance filled life of Mary, Queen of Scots.
The final episode of Reign Season 1 will premiere on Thursday, May 15, 2014. The episode airs at 9 p.m., directly following the Season 5 finale of The Vampire Diaries.
Thankfully, the dramatic CW series isn’t going away for good. The network has already confirmed that Reign will be back for Season 2. (Though, the number of people close to Mary who will be dead by the time that happens? Still up in the air. Is it just us, or do almost as many people get killed off on this show as on Game Of Thrones?)
But before we start thinking too much about the finale, let’s not forget that it’s still more than two months away! That still gives us plenty of new episodes, plenty of angst and broken hearts, and plenty of chances for backstabbing, bribery, and betrayal.
After a dangerous kidnapping in February 27’s “Royal Blood,” the show is set to answer the biggest question of all the very next week: Who will Mary wed? March 6’s episode is titled “The Consummation,” which we can only assume refers to Mary’s getting down and dirty with whichever royal heir ends up being her husband.
But will she wed the king’s longtime heir Francis, as she’s always assumed, or will the Pope grant eldest-but-bastard son Sebastian’s request to be made the rightful heir? We’ll find out soon enough.
