Jonathan Groff Celebrates Frozen’s Oscar Win — Where’s Lea Michele? (PHOTOS)
Glee hasn't won an Emmy in a while, but two of the show's stars got plenty of Oscar love last night! Idina Menzel (Shelby) performed "Let It Go" from the film Frozen, which earned the Best Song trophy, while Jonathan Groff's (Jesse St. James)— who voices Kristoff in the film — celebrated when Frozen won Best Animated Feature. But where was Lea Michele (Rachel) as her bestie Jonathan rejoiced?
Jonathan and pal Ashley Fink (Lauren) attended Elton John's annual Oscar viewing party on March 2, where Ash snapped an adorable pic (above) of Jonathan crossing his fingers just before the Animated Feature envelope was opened. And Ashley writes about the pic, "He is just the cutest thing. This is one of my favorite photos I've ever taken ever ever." Aww!
Then, Ashley added a follow-up photo (at right) of Jonathan applauding as the film's producers took to the stage to accept the award on behalf of the film. "Aaaaand the WIN!!!" Ashley captions that one. "Yay Frozen!!! Congratulations Jonathan Groff!!!!! Aaaaaaaaaahhh!!!"
Frankly, we're a little surprised that J-Groff didn't nab an invite to the actual ceremony itself, given that his movie won in two big Oscar categories. Still, it looks like he and Ashley had a blast at the viewing party.
But where was Lea during the ceremony? Well, she had to fly to NYC to help promote her album Louder, which drops tomorrow. But she still managed to help make this a very special weekend for Jonathan, as the pair par attended pre-Oscar parties in L.A. on March 1, the night before the ceremony. Lea posted two photos (below) of their night out. "Pre- #Oscar fun last night with #JonathanGroff! ❤️," she captions the pics.
