Ian Somerhalder Throws Beads, Plays the Trombone in Epic Mardi Gras Parade (PHOTOS)
Like the true-blue Southern boy that he is, Ian Somerhalder knows how to celebrate Mardi Gras in style. The Vampire Diaries star took to his home state of Louisiana over the weekend, where he acted as co-Grand Marshal in the Krewe Of Endymion parade through the French Quarter of New Orleans. (The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus was also on hand for the event.)
Not surprisingly, Ian was swarmed by screaming fans as he tossed out Mardi Gras beads and blew kisses to the crowd. At one, Ian even picked up a trombone and tried to join in with the band! (Guess we can add music to his ever-growing list to talents.)
Though the 35-year-old heartthrob wasn’t able to attend the official Mardi Gras party (he had to return to Atlanta for filming of The Vampire Diaries), it certainly sounds like he had a hell of a good time. “What a night! “ Ian wrote via the Esquire magazine Instagram account. “Had a blast. Thanks to everyone else who helped organize. Thanks to the good people of New Orleans for inviting me and to all of you for following along. Til next time.”
