Between the Oscars 2014 and a brand-new episode of The Walking Dead last night, March 2, poor Twitter couldn’t handle everything that was going on and the savvy social media site briefly crashed because of the overwhelming amount of traffic it recieved during a short time.
We aren’t exactly sure what time Twitter went down, but one contributing factor to the technological blip was a live Twitter Q&A with The Walking Dead stars Emily Kinney (Beth Greene) and Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon). The duo, who were both the focus of last night’s Season 4, Episode 12: “Still” hopped on the site in advance of the episode’s 9 p.m. ET debut and were instantaneously bombarded with queries. “Literally thousands of questions pouring in every minute HOLY s—,” Norman shared just minutes before the crash heard ‘round the world.
Moments later, Twitter broke, and Norman followed up with, “I think we broke twitter. I LOVE YOU GUYS. !!!!” The snafu meant that the Q&A came to an abrupt end after just a handful of questions had been asked and answered, but Norman promised to continue it at a later date. The star tweeted, “We broke twitter I wanna hug and high five every one of u!!!!! YESSS! (Ps I owe u a Q and A. I'll make it happen ) x.”
To be fair, we think Ellen DeGeneres's epic Oscar selfie with Hollywood A-listers Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence, Jared Leto, Channing Tatum, Julia Roberts, Lupita Nyong’o (and her baby brother), Kevin Spacey, and Bradley Cooper had something to do with the Twitter malfunction.Ellen’s priceless snapshot was retweeted over 1 million times within the hour. But we’re sure Norman and Emily played a part in it as well!
