Now that Lena Dunham has successfully conquered the TV world with her hit show, Girls, it’s time for her to take on a different medium: Comic books. For her next challenge, Lena is writing her own four-part Archie comic, which hits stores in 2015.
“I was an avid Archie collector as a child,” Lena said in a press release, according to People. “Conventions, first editions that I kept in plastic sleeves, the whole shebang. It has so much cultural significance but also so much personal significance, and to get to play with these beloved characters is a wild creative opportunity.”
While we’d love to see what would happen if Betty and Veronica ran into Hannah, Marnie, Shoshanna, and Jessa on a vacay to New York City, we have a feeling that the plot will be kept in Riverdale.
“Everyone at Archie is thrilled Lena is coming aboard to write this story, and I can tell you, it’s going to be fantastic,” Archie Chief Creative Officer (and former Glee writer) Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said. “Lena’s take on the Archie gang is funny and real and contemporary. It’s a stunning fit, and I know fans will be excited to read it. I am!”
“It’s a classic Archie story, with a definitely unique, Lena spin,” Roberto added. “It’s going to be set in Archie continuity.”
And for Lena’s next project, we’d like to suggest a Girls comic book. But, um, not sold to kids.
