According to the synopsis for Episode 17, “In order to keep Stefan from being harmed by Sloan and the Travelers, Caroline and Enzo agree to make a trip to Atlanta to find a newly discovered doppelganger. Caroline is surprised when Enzo opens up to her about his past.” Sounds like these two might be getting closer — and we all know that road trips on this show can’t be undertaken without some form of motel/hotel hookup. We’re not positive, but we think it might be in the TVD series handbook somewhere.
As for compatibility, these two actually have some things in common: mainly, their dedication to their friends. Enzo may be a bit unhinged, but he’s kind of an amazing friend. He kept Damon alive when they were fellow tortured vamps, then forgave him for leaving him to die in an escape attempt he himself had planned. That’s insane. Meanwhile, Caroline will do anything for someone she considers a friend. She’s Stefan’s sober sponsor and stayed with Tyler right up until his first transition into werewolf. Caroline is also very single right now. She recently shredded mementos from her last two romantic entanglements with Tyler and Klaus. Might she hook up with Enzo?
On the other hand, the synopsis for this episode also speaks of “a special moment of friendship” shared between Caroline and Stefan. Is this a euphemism for a romantic progression for Steroline, or are these two exchanging friendship bracelets (or, better yet, one of those broken heart friendship necklaces)? We’re leaning towards the latter, or we think the synopsis would have phrased it differently — but we’re not completely ruling out the chance that these two might become an item. We kind of hope it doesn’t happen because their friendship is amazing, but we’re not sure TVD will be able to resist.
