Ryan Seacrest’s New Show Gets Green Light from VH1! It’s Called WHAT?!

In “oh no, you didn’t” news for today, VH1 announced Ryan Seacrest Productions’ White Girls Of Rap has been green lit for a series. Is this part of the American Idol host’s quest to take over the world, one TV show at a time? Only time will tell, but we’re not so sure we’ll be watching this six-episode docu-series

White Girls Of Rap is reportedly the working title as of now but, according to The Hollywood Reporter back in December, the show was originally pitched as Girls in the Game. It chronicles white, female rappers who, according to VH1, are “striving for success in a male-dominated business.”

We’re not so sure about you but when Googling “white female rappers,” the only name we recognized was Ke$ha, and calling her a rapper seems a bit of a stretch.

There’s no denying Ryan has had the Midas touch when it comes to most of his past unscripted series, having launched E!’s Kardashian franchise. He also acquired Esquire Network’s How I Rock It and Bravo’s Shahs of Sunset. Ryan Seacrest Productions’s first scripted series, Mixology, is also currently in the TV lineup on ABC. Then again, THR’s Tim Goodman calls Mixology, which gets the prime spot after ABC’s hit Modern Family, a “misogynistic piece of frat-boy awfulness.” Ouch.

While we’re not so sure about this new show and whether it’ll boom like Kardashians or seemingly bust like Mixology, we still love you, Ryan!

What do you think? Will you watch White Girls Of Rap when it debuts later this year? Sound off in the comments!
