Lea Michele’s Debut Album Breaks Top 5 on the Billboard Charts — She Reacts!
Lea Michele’s (Rachel) first solo album, Louder, skyrocketed to No. 1 on iTunes the morning it came out. Now, Billboard has the official numbers for Louder’s first week on the charts, and Lea’s managed to make it into the top five of the week.
Billboard reports that Louder clocked in at No. 4 on the list, selling an impressive 60,000 copies its first week. Just one slot ahead of Lea is her best friend, Jonathan Groff (Jesse), whose Frozen movie soundtrack landed at No. 3.
Pharrell Williams’s second album, G I R L, debut at No. 2, while Rick Ross’s Mastermind came in at No. 1. This makes his fifth debut to land at the very top of the Billboard charts.
So while Lea didn’t crush the competition, she certainly made a very impressive debut for a first-time solo artist. And the Glee star seems pretty impressed. When Billboard tweeted about her Top 10 debut — ahem: we’re pretty sure it was Top 5! — Lea tweeted back an enthusiastic, “This is so AMAZING!”
Lea has, of course, topped the charts before with her various Glee covers over the years. But to debut so high for her work as a solo artist is all the more impressive. Of course, it’s not that we ever doubted Lea has what it takes to be a star. But we’re glad to see her getting everything she so very much deserves.
