Back in December 2013, Tamera Mowry-Housley and twin sister Tia Mowry-Hardrict decided to pull the plug on their hit Style network reality TV show, Tia & Tamera. When HipHollywood caught up with The Real co-host at the Essence pre-Oscar luncheon, she discussed her decision to step back from reality TV for the sake of spending time with her family.
“Doing a reality show, you have to have a significant other really really love and aspire to do that, otherwise, I want to spend time with my husband. If I had to choose reality show and time with my baby and my husband, time with my baby and my husband,” she told the website.
Tamera also explained that she and Tia decided to not go forward with their show after the Style Network became the Esquire Network, and shows started moving to different networks. Tamera says this “was a sign” to her and sissy Tia that it was time to close up shop.
“We weren’t going to be on E, but a couple other networks were approaching us and we just saw it as it was just time to stop. It got to the point where she was really busy with her show, I knew I was going to be really busy with The Real, we both are married and we want to stay married.”
Tamera did say that she’s not sure what the future may hold, but it sounds like at least for now, reality TV is off the table. “I’m a very private person and we both just got to the point where we looked at each other were going to take this as a sign to just stop,” she said.
Tamera will come back to TV this fall, as a panelist on the daytime talk show, The Real, and you can catch her sister Tia on her hit Nick at Nite comedy, Instant Mom.
