Why Haven’t Jenelle Evans and Courtland Rogers Gotten Divorced Yet?
Things are looking up these days for Teen Mom 2's Jenelle Evans. Not only is she clean and sober, but she's also expecting a baby with her new boyfriend, Nathan Griffith. The only problem? She's still technically married to estranged husband Courtland Rogers. Whoops!
But homegirl has a good reason for staying hitched to her wayward ex. As confirmed by Jenelle's lord and savior lawyer, Dustin R.T. Sullivan, couples seeking divorce in the state of North Carolina must be legally separated for at least one year prior to filing. As you may recall, Jenelle and Courtland officially called it quits on April 23, 2013, when they were both arrested on felony heroin possession and paraphernalia charges. So that explains it!
When Wetpaint teamed up with Viggle during last night's episode of Teen Mom 2, over 63 percent of Viggle LIVE! of were already familiar with N.C.'s divorce waiting period. Meanwhile, 30 percent assumed Jenelle and Courtland couldn't afford a divorce, while only 7 percent of Viggle LIVE! players thought they were still in love. As if!

"It is required that the parties be separated for at least one year before one can have a divorce decree entered by the court. We do not have common law divorces as other states do," Dustin confirmed to Wetpaint.
But the good news? It's already March, which means Jenelle's only got a month and a half to go before she's officially free from Courtland. And while she doesn't have any immediate plans to walk down the aisle with Nathan (they're not even engaged yet!), she's already planning the wedding in her head.
"My wedding song will be Mirrors," she tweeted back in December.
Somewhere, Justin Timberlake is smiling.
