One of the benefits of ABC being in the Disney family is they can do a lot of crossover — which they already do on Once Upon a Time, while DWTS mostly just gets cast members from the Disney Channel. It seems like Disney music would be perfect fit for DWTS, and showrunner Conrad Green hinted to tapping into that potential in the spring 2014 season
Conrad told TV Guide the show will most likely revisit past themes like Latin Night and Most Memorable Year, but there will be new themes this year — including Party Anthems night, American Icons night, and possibly a Disney Music night. "As soon as our celebrities and dancers heard that, everyone got very excited and was talking about being princesses and stuff like this," Conrad said.
Well, yeah! Who doesn't want to see our handsome pros dressed up as princes, as they twirl their ladies through the ballroom? Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are already tailor-made for a Beauty and the Beast Waltz. This one could be good.
What do you think of a Disney theme? How about the other ones he mentioned, like Party Anthems and American Icons? Are you curious to see those themes or would you prefer to go back to the time when we didn't have so many set themes defining each week?
DWTS Season 18 premieres Monday, March 17 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
