The Voice 2014: Best Performance From Season 6 Battle Rounds — March 17, 2014 (VIDEO)

The Voice Season 6 kicked into high gear last night with the first batch of battle rounds. We saw some of the strongest contenders across all four teams — Adam, Blake, Shakira, and Usher — go head to head to earn their spot into the knockout rounds. Though a few of the battles were definitely tough ones to call, there was one battle that we thought stood out from the rest.

Team Shakira singers Dani Moz and DeShawn Washington’s battle to Emeli Sandé’s “My Kind of Love” totally took us by surprise and we couldn’t believe how the pop and soul singer blended together for a pretty rousing performance. We also enjoyed Team Adam’s Kat Perkins and Patrick Thomson battle to “Whenever I Call You ‘Friend’” by Stevie Nicks and Kenny Loggins, but the battle of the night for us would have to go to Team Blake contestants Paula DeAnda and Sisaundra Lewis.

Initially we all thought that the battle to Lady Gaga’s “Do What U Want” featuring Christina Aguilera would be a clear win for powerhouse vocalist Sisaundra — that is, until we heard Paula put up her fight to stay in the competition. Though there were a few technical issues on Paula’s end, the Texan pushed through, letting loose several high notes that caught our attention.

Unfortunately for Paula, her inability to stay in the pocket (combined with Sisaundra’s one large note towards the end) sent her packing and left Sisaundra the victor.
