The Vampire Diaries

Vampire Diaries Season 5, Episode 20 Spoiler Photo: Who Is Stefan Calling?

Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) character arc has been one of the more interesting ones of The Vampire Diaries Season 5. But where is this brooding do-gooder going? Well, here’s a sneak peek at what he’s up to in Season 5, Episode 20!

“The great @PaulWesley rocked his directorial debut. And he continues to rock as Stefan. #TVD 5x20 #DirectorPride,” Josh Butler tweeted, along with a photo of Stefan on the phone. He looks pretty worried about something. Yeah, not much to go on, but it’s something. Here’s what we think Stefan’s furrowed brow might be caused by.

We think supernatural terror is about to rain down on our TVDers, and thy name is Markos. The leader of the Travelers will be introduced in Season 5, Episode 17 (“Rescue Me”), and will most likely reveal the Traveler agenda, of which Stefan is most certainly an integral part. We know this because of the synopsis for Episode 17, which tells us: “In order to keep Stefan from being harmed by Sloan and the Travelers, Caroline and Enzo agree to make a trip to Atlanta to find a newly discovered doppelganger.” That’s right: another day, another doppelganger.

So, who is Stefan calling in this scene? Could be Markos, looking to make some sort of deal. Could be Caroline, who is increasingly becoming his go-to person in times of crisis. Could be that the person in the shot isn’t even Stefan, but the doppelganger mentioned in the Episode 17 synopsis. Could be Stefan calling his doppelganger. Did we just blow your minds?

What do you think Stefan will be up to moving forward? Who do you think he might be on the phone with? Share your theories in the comments below!
