Once Upon a Time Season 3, Episode 13 Burning Questions: Could Rumple Be Zelena’s Father?
We love all ofOnce Upon a Time’s many, many mysteries, but sometimes it seems like each episode introduces more questions than answers. To that end, we’ve tackled the 10 biggest questions from this week’s episode in order to make sense of everything that happened.
The Wicked Witch delivers quite the shocker when she informs Regina that she is her older half-sister. This sounds like a job for Maury Povich. So will Zelena’s dad turn out to be Rumple, given that we know he and Cora used to get kissy? That would certainly seem to explain why both Rumple and Zelena have the kind of skin that not even Clearasil could improve.
2. How did Zelena manage to rescue Rumple?
The last we heard, Rumple appeared to be dead, after he sacrificed himself during that epic battle with Peter Pan. Nothing like a little father-son bonding. So where did he and Peter go after their fight — and how did Zelena save him? We’re wondering if Zelena managed to find Rumple’s dagger, which may have helped her get to him.
3. Why has Zelena imprisoned Rumple?
Although we’re happy to see Rumple alive and breathing, the poor guy has clearly seen better days. Apparently, living in a cage and eating gruel doesn’t agree with him. Go figure! But what does she want with him? We know that Regina needed Rumple’s assistance to cast the initial curse, so maybe Zelena is using him for his powers as well.
4. What does Zelena want with Snow’s baby?
If we were Snow, we’d get a restraining order against Zelena stat, rather than letting her help with the birth. Given how attached Zelena seems to be to the bun in Snow’s oven, we wonder if she somehow did something to create the child, Rosemary’s Baby-style. Maybe Zelena can’t give birth to her own child?
5. Where the heck is Neal?
For some reason, Neal hasn’t returned to Storybrooke with everyone else. So is he still back in the Enchanted Forest? The dwarves appear convinced that he’s become a monkey man, but we have a feeling that’s probably not the case. But Emma and Henry might want to stock up on bananas, just in case.
It’s tough to see that Henry still has no recollection of Regina or his previous time in Storybrooke. We can only assume that Henry will get his memories back sooner rather than later, but we’re not sure how. Maybe Emma will have something to do with them returning?
7. Will Regina’s sleeping spell eventually be used on someone?
Usually, a spell doesn’t tend to go unused on this show. So, once we see Regina create the sleeping spell and almost prick herself with it, we wonder whether someone will eventually become afflicted by it. We can imagine Regina somehow falling under that spell and needing Robin to break it. All together now: “Awww.”
8. Why is Zelena suddenly so powerful?
The Wicked Witch is definitely wreaking havoc on our heroes these days, what with her (smooth-talking) flying monkeys running amok and such. But we don’t get how she suddenly got all this power. Like, where was she during the first curse?
9. Is Peter Pan still alive?
If Rumple is alive, we can only assume that Peter Pan could be, too. Might he be teaming up with Zelena, or did he have something to do with Zelena getting Rumple into that cage? Still, so many episodes have been devoted to Peter this season that we’re kind of done with the guy.
10. Where did the memory potion come from?
Hook gave Emma a memory potion, which he claims came from a bird. If his story is true, that’s the friendliest bird we’ve ever heard of, not counting the big yellow one on Sesame Street. But who attached the potion to the bird? We’re wondering if the person who put it there was not someone with good intentions but instead Zelena, who may have used it in order to get Emma and Henry to Storybrooke.
