The Voice 2014: Best Performance From Season 6 Battle Rounds — March 24, 2014 (VIDEO)

The Voice Season 6 kicked off on a “Happy” note last night with the third go ‘round of Battle Rounds. We saw some of the favorite contestants from Team Usher, Adam, Blake, and Shakira duke it out on stage in an attempt to continue on in the competition. Of course the night was filled with quite a few emotional and high-octane performances, but a few definitely stood out from the rest.

Team Shakira’s battle between R&B vocalists Deja Hall and Music Box to The Bangles’ “Eternal Flame” was pretty gripping. Deja showcased major chops for a 17-year-old, while Music sange with sincere vulnerability. Blake Shelton’s country singers Alaska & Madi and Audra McLaughlin definitely put up a fight to “When I Be Loved” by Linda Ronstadt, while Team Usher’s Tanner James and Madilyn Paige’s battle to Taylor Swift’s “Everything Has Changed” left us reminiscent of our first loves.

The battle of the night, however, had to go to Team Usher’s blues singer Bria Kelly and pop singer Tess Boyer for their rendition of “Piece of My Heart” by Janis Joplin. It was the first time we’d seen Tess (whose blind audition was montaged) and were pretty pleased to hear the former pageant queen give it her all against Bria’s powerhouse vocals. Though Bria ultimately won the battle, Tess’s impressive sound landed her a spot on Team Blake, when the country crooner scooped her up with his last steal.
