Lauren Conrad Covers Allure’s April 2014 Issue: “You Have to Represent Yourself Well”
Lauren Conrad is unarguably one of the most successful women spawned by reality television, and we all must bow down at her prowess. Who else could have survived both Laguna Beach and The Hills not only to tell the tale but also launch her own mega-popular lifestyle website, book series, and fashion line?
So how does she do it? Lauren spilled a few of her secrets in her recent cover interview for Allure’s April 2014 issue, and as it turns out, the path to success doesn’t allow for a lot of wiggle room in the way of accidental sex tape leaks and other scandals.
“You have to represent yourself well no matter what you do,” Lauren said, a skill she picked up on early in her teen years when she was faced with being on camera during some of the most emotional, drama-filled times of her life.
“Doing reality television for such a long time made a big difference,” she added. “People were in my bedroom.”
And now that Lauren’s found her prince charming, William Tell — thank god it wasn’t Jason — and is getting ready to get married, she’s following the amazing example her parents, who have been married since they were 17, set for her.
If it were up to Lauren, her house would be “over-the-top girlie and vintage,” she no longer has that option now that Will’s moved in. But she’s taking her mom’s best advice for a lasting marriage, which means having a room that’s just hers.
Meanwhile, Lauren doesn’t deny that, thanks to her DIY expertise, she wouldn’t mind being the next Martha Stewart. “I wish!” she said.
