One of the more surprising developments since Rebekah’s departure on The Originals has been the sexual relationship between Klaus (Joseph Morgan) and witch Genevieve (Elyse Levesque). Do these two crazy kids have a future? Joseph talked romance with TVLine.
“They’re two extremely damaged people who share a sense of self-loathing and they take it out on each other — sometimes physically, sometimes aggressively,” Joseph described the Klaus/Genevieve romance. “Ultimately, a relationship like that can be fun, but it’s doomed, I would say, from the start.” Hopefully, there aren’t too many Klenevieve shippers out there. It doesn’t sound like this relationship is going to end well — though, what do you expect from a romance that was kindled when Genevieve was manipulating Klaus into trying to kill his own sister?
We’re guessing there aren’t too many fans torn up about JoMo’s perspective on Klaus’ feelings (or lack thereof) for Genevieve, especially given that so many are still holding out hope for an eventual romance between The Vampire Diaries’ Caroline Forbes and Klaus. Any news on that front? Well, executive producer Julie Plec told the fans gathered at PaleyFest: "I feel like Caroline Forbes is such a crucial element on The Vampire Diaries. Taking her off that show would be very damaging to the show." Not to mention, she added, "Klaus has s—t to do" in New Orleans. “It's not never say never, it's..." We’ll take that as a maybe, then.
As for Genevieve, we hope she sticks around The Originals, regardless of the state of her relationship with Klaus. With Rebekah gone, the show is in need of strong female characters to fill the void. So far, Genevieve hasn’t overwhelmed us with her depth and complexity, but we think her character has potential, especially in her relationship with young Davina. Witch power!
How do you think Klenevieve will develop from here? Do you want Genevieve to stick around? Sound off in the comments below!
