Why Does Leah Messer’s Daughter, Aliannah, Need a Wheelchair?
It has been an emotional rollercoaster ride for Teen Mom 2’s Leah Messer. Not only is she dealing with marital problems with her husband, Jeremy Calvert, but she currently has her hands full with raising her three children — twin daughters, Aliannah and Aleeah, and baby Addalynn — all while Jeremy is working in New Mexico for weeks at a time. Which means this Teen Mom was by herself during Aliannah’s recent doctor’s visit.
On Tuesday’s April 1 episode of Teen Mom 2,Wetpaint Entertainment partnered with Viggle LIVE! to ask users why Leah’s daughter got fitted for a wheelchair. To be exact, 89 percent of users said it was because of her muscular dystrophy diagnosis, while the rest assumed it was because Aliannah either broke her leg or tried it out for fun.

Turns out 4-year-old Aliannah was recently diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy, and unfortunately there is no cure or treatment for any form of the disease. "Usually we can only do physical therapy, and in her situation she will need a power wheelchair when she goes to school," the doctor previously explained to Leah. The chair will not only help Aliannah conserve some of her energy for more important tasks, but it will allow her to keep up with her sister, Aleeah!
