Lydia tells Dolce Mag that she was initially hesitant about accepting the offer to appear on the show. "I spoke to the producers and told them I’m not a typical housewife; I’m not dramatic," Lydia says. "But they said that they liked that, and they wanted me to just be me. So I took it as a chance to be a different voice — a role model, maybe."
So what made her leave? "I really did do the show because I wanted to be a positive influence, but if I’d returned for another season, it would have been because I like the red carpets, the fame, the glamour — and those aren’t the reasons why I did it in the first place," she explains. "I didn’t want to see my values being compromised."
We can imagine that it would be difficult to walk away from getting to star on a TV show, let alone the steady paycheck that comes with it. But we admire Lydia for doing what she feels is right. Plus, we can't wait for her and Doug to possibly have another little one soon!
