Chord Overstreet Releases First Original Song — Listen to “Birthday Suit” (VIDEO)

Chord Overstreet’s (Sam) musical talent in undisputed at this point. Not only does he belt out tunes on a weekly basis on the Fox dramedy, Glee, but Chord also hails from a musically-inclined, very talented family. His father, Paul Overstreet, is a country music singer-songwriter, and older brother Nash is a member of the band Hot Chelle Rae. Chord shows off his skills on Glee, but we’ve only been able to watch him cover songs by other artists like Toby Keith and Bruno Mars — until now, that is!

On March 31, Chord gave the world a listen to his original song, “Birthday Suit”. Yes, the song includes the lyrics, “I want you in your birthday suit”, and it’s obviously about getting a girl naked, but we must admit that it’s super catchy and we totally dig it. On March 31 Chord tweeted, “As promised, more music! This one is an original. It may be the first time you've heard it.”

The accompanying video features Chord singing his heart out and playing the guitar. Can you handle it? Because we can’t! With his smooth vocals and country charm, Chord is similar to a more likable John Mayer or a more soulful Jason Mraz. Don’t believe us, take a listen for yourself below!

A quick visit to Chord’s Youtube channel (which we recommend you follow ASAP) shows that last week he uploaded a video of himself singing a mashup of Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night” and Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky.” As you may have guessed, this hybrid tune is aptly named “Get Lucky Friday Night”. Oh Chord, you slay us!

Take a listen to “Birthday Suit” below and tell us what you think!

Glee Season 5 airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
