As for their first child, 5-year-old son Hunter, he may have wanted a little brother, but he’s pretty psyched about his new baby sister. “He’s very excited,” James explains. “Since we spaced them apart from each other, Hunter will probably be a big help.”
Congratulations to the new family!
Original Story (April 7, 2014):James Durbin certainly has a lot to be excited about these days, as the former American Idol contestant is expecting his second child with wife Heidi Lowe! The news comes just one day before James’s new album, Celebration, hits stores on April 8.
Married since December 2011, James and Heidi plan to learn the sex of their baby by cutting into a cake at a gender reveal party. The couple don’t seem to have a preference for a boy or a girl, saying that they’re simply “looking forward to even more laughter in the house and those silly baby expressions.”
James and Heidi are sure to be thrilled no matter the gender, but their 5-year-old, Hunter, has some hopes of his own. “He’s very excited,” explains the “Parachute” singer. “He wants a little brother to play Legos with. Since we spaced them apart from each other, Hunter will probably be a big help.”Fatherhood has definitely brought a new perspective for James, who admits he’s much more responsible than he was a few years back.
In a recent interview with Yahoo! Music, the Sason 10 contestant spilled some details about life on the road. “[With] my old band, our [tour] rider was like a bottle of Jack Daniel's, a bottle of Crown, a bottle of Grey Goose, rolling papers… um, countless other things. It's funny, now it's seaweed snacks.”
