We recently got our first narrative detail about the Pretty Little Liars 100th episode (Season 5, Episode 5) when executive producer Marlene King tweeted that the milestone episode would include a Spencer and Hanna scene. This got us thinking: ideally, what other scenes do we want to see in the milestone episode? Here are the top five scenes on our wishlist.
A Liars sleepover a la the pilot. We can’t help but hope to see a few throwbacks to the episode that started it all: the PLL pilot. And which better scene to emulate than the very first, aka a flashback to the sleepover the girls were having the night Ali went missing. We rarely see the core four having a good old-fashioned hang out without “A” business taking over, and we’d like to see it here. Time for a slumber party!
An epic Haleb moment. With Caleb making his return to Rosewood in this episode, you better believe we’re looking for some stellar Haleb scenes, but we want one that stands out above all. It doesn’t have to be overly happy or super sappy — that wouldn’t be realistic given where these two are in their relationship — but we do want a Haleb scene for the ages, one we will always remember.
A Rosewood gathering. As much as we adore the Liars, this show also has a pretty broad supporting cast, and we’d love to get as many of them as possible in this episode. We think the best way to do this is to some sort of party or town gathering at which most of the characters could conceivably be. Otherwise, it’s just going to turn into a parade of characters, and that doesn’t sound like a very exciting plot. But, seriously, show, you better get out favorites in here. Here’s a list of the supporting cast members we’d like to see off the top of our head: Mona, Jason, Lucas, Noel, Jenna, Melissa, Papa Hastings, Mama Hastings, Mama Marin, Mama Fields, and CeCe. Of course, a Tippi the Parrot sighting wouldn’t go amiss, either.
A satisfying answer. Marlene has promised that this episode will solve a long-held mystery, and we’re holding her to it. There are too many “answers” on this show that are really just a shifting of the mystery. They feel like misdirects more than real, solid pieces of information that can be incorporated into what we know of the “A” game. Whatever the mystery Marlene plans to solve, we hope it’s a sizable one. And, whatever the answer she plans to give, we hope it feels real.
Plenty of Ali. We’re still not quite over our luck that Ali is not only back from the dead, but will be back in Rosewood in Season 5. As much as this show is about the Liars, it is also about the life and fake death of Alison DiLaurentis, the legacy she left behind, and who the girl is behind that legacy. We hope Pretty Little Liars plays tribute to these themes with plenty of Ali screen time in this episode. That’s immortality, my darlings.
