American Idol

Watch Dexter Roberts Sing “Keep Your Hands to Yourself” in American Idol 2014 Top 8 — April 9, 2014

Feel like you’re having a bit of déjà vu to last week’s American Idol? Fear not, because we promise you’re not going crazy! Indeed, the Top 8 of Season 13 are taking the Idol stage for the second week in a row after the judges used their one and only save on Sam Woolf.

Despite the oldest contestants in the competition being just 23 years old (man, we feel ancient!), the eight remaining hopefuls will be taking on songs from the 1980s. That’s right, these talented hopefuls have been tasked with singing numbers that were popular before they were even born!

Next to take the stage is Dexter Roberts, who finally managed to wow the judges last week (especially Harsh Harry) with his simple, stripped down version of “One Mississippi.” This week, however, he wants to bust out the electric guitar and have a bit of fun with the Georgia Satellites classic “Keep Your Hands to Yourself.”

“You always come out here and sing kind of perfect,” says J.Lo. “I know we always get on you about singing the anthem songs and not owning them and not having enough personality, but today I think you actually did it.”

Do you think Dexter deserves to make it through to next week? Watch the video below and sound off in the comments!
