We’re just one day away from the midseason finale of Dance Moms Season 4, but we’re already looking ahead to the future of our favorite guilty pleasure. The drama-filled, dance-based reality show has proven itself to have staying power, and tomorrow night’s April 15 finale will be its 100th episode — and that’s just since the show began in 2011! But how much longer do we have with Abby Lee Miller and her stage mom foes?
As the fourth season is only halfway finished, we have yet to hear from Lifetime as to whether Season 5 is a go, but taking a glance at the ratings for the show can give us a bigger picture. On the one hand, the most recent April 8 episode brought in a 1.75 rating, which was a season low. And it does seem that the ratings have consistently decreased week after week in the last month or so. For reference: Dance Moms premiered on January 1 to a whopping 2.42 rating, and stuck around the 2 mark until early March.
Now, that doesn’t mean that the show is doomed by any means. The ratings are actually mostly up from last summer’s Season 3, which was lingering around the 1.6-1.8 range on a weekly basis. Given, that was during the lesser-watched summer months, but still — silver linings! Plus, Dance Moms is still consistently beating out renewed Bravo shows like Real Housewives of New York and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills — and sometimes it’s even on par with MTV’s hit Teen Mom 2.
All in all, we imagine Lifetime won’t be ridding itself of this controversial (and addictive) series anytime soon. With things heating up in court between Abby Lee and Kelly Hyland off-screen, interest won’t likely wane in the hiatus.
