Once Upon a Time

Once Upon a Time Ratings Fall For Season 3, Episode 17 — How Bad Were They?

Once Upon a Time’s ratings fluctuate more than the Wicked Witch’s mood swings, and this week is no different. Season 3, Episode 17 (“The Jolly Roger”) saw Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) set out on an adventure to find his famous vessel — but unfortunately this didn’t exactly win viewers over. How bad were the ratings for this week’s all-new episode?

According to Zap2it, a grand total of 6.5 million viewers tuned in for the April 13 episode, giving the show a 2.0 rating in the key 18-49 demo, adjusted up one-tenth of a point from the primary ratings. This isn’t a bad showing, but it does put Once down week-over-week, since it garnered 6.68 million viewers and a 2.2 rating last week.

We’re not worried about Once at all, just in case you’re wondering. It was still ahead of Revenge in viewership, though it was lagging behind Resurrection. It even beat out America’s Funniest Home Videos — one of ABC’s big franchises. Not too shabby!

The Hook-focused episode was an entertaining hour of TV, but it wasn’t until the end, when the Wicked Witch revealed that she had been incognito as Ariel the whole time, that we were really won over. The Regina (Lana Parrilla) and Emma (Jennifer Morrison) scenes were pretty magical too, don’t you think?

Are you surprised the ratings were down this week? Hit the comments and let us know if you tuned in!

Once Upon a Time airs Sunday nights at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
