Lindsay Lohan may indeed be on her own now that she's no longer on OWN. Though the network claims otherwise, the internet is abuzz with reports that OWN has cancelled the docu-series Lindsay.
The eight-episode first (and probably last) season — which concludes with two episodes this Sunday, April 20 — chronicled the fallen movie star's attempts to stay sober and reinvigorate her career.
E! Online reports that there is "no talk" of a Season 2, though an OWN rep tells the site, "Rumors that it is being canceled are untrue."
Meanwhile, a source "close to Lindsay" tells E! that "the intention was always to do eight episodes. The show is not being canceled."
Yeah, that's easy to say, but we're sure that the network would have gladly continued for a second season had the show gotten decent ratings. (Less than 700,000 viewers tuned in to the premiere.)
Such is the trend among networks these days: pretend a show was just a one-season wonder all along so that you save face when you cancel it.
On a recent Late Show appearance, Lindsay told David Letterman that she had mixed feelings about the show. "It's edited very differently … Some things are taken out of context and that creates the drama and the spectacle … I am producer, but I don't have control of [the editing]. But it's pretty raw. I mean, it's just me kind of sorting out life again and figuring things out. Taking new steps and living … sober-minded. It's a process."
Well, now she'll have to do so off-camera!
