Season 4 of Pretty Little Liars saw some game-changing reveals that will forever alter the PLL playing board, and hopefully lead to some exciting new alliances in Season 5. Basically, we’d like to see the series switch up the power dynamics as it moves towards its 100th episode. Maybe we’ve been watching too much Game of Thrones? Regardless, here are the alliances we’d like to see happen in Season 5!
Mona and Ali
How amazing would it be to see these two join forces? Very amazing is the answer. Both of these gals are clever, judgmental, and totally obsessed with manipulating other people. Basically, they are two sides of the same coin, and we’d love to see them join forces. We also think they have a lot in common now that Mona kind of, maybe is an “A” target, as well. (She certainly seemed to be an “A” target at the end of Season 3 when “A” tried to burn her up in the Thornhill Lodge fire along with three of the four Liars. But maybe that wasn’t “A”? This show confuses us, sometimes.) What we’re saying is: we don’t care which side Mona is on; we just want her to be scheming buddies with Ali.
Spencer and Jason
We know these two have been quasi-allies before — but, not really. Jason has always been weirdly suspicious of Spencer, and Spence has always been too focused to worry too much about getting Jason in on her plan. But we hope that changes in Season 5 because we think it would be awesome to see these half-siblings as an “A”-fighting duo. Jason is going to be at a pretty emotionally-vulnerable point, given that not only was his mother just murdered, but he just found out that the sister he thought had been murdered is definitely not-murdered. Surprise! Basically, he needs a support system more than ever, and we think Spencer could be that ally.
Hanna and Ashley Marin
We know these two make a good team because we have seen them in action before. But, while this mother-daughter duo often works together, they have never been a true alliance because Hanna feels like she can’t confide in her mother the extent of the “A” game. We want that to change. Ashley Marin is obviously the coolest parental in Rosewood, and seems to always be one step from figuring out that her daughter is being terrorized by a crazy mean girl (or guy). In Season 5, we wish PLL would take the final step and make Ashley an honorary Liar, complete with scenes of the Marin Girls laying waste to Rosewood, one “A” Lair at a time. This is probably wishful thinking, huh? No parents allowed in the “A” game.
Lucas and Caleb
These two were once roommates and friends, Lucas retrieving Caleb and bringing him back to Rosewood just because he knew that he and Hanna loved one another, and he wanted to make them both happy. Lucas kind of screwed that up when he borrowed money from Caleb, then lost it all, but we think there’s a chance they could patch things up and go after “A” as a tech-savvy team. We know that both characters will be back in Season 5. Bring on the bromantic scheming!
