American Idol 2014 Song Spoilers: Top 6 Song Choices Revealed! — April 23, 2014

Tonight’s round of performances on American Idol as the Top 6 take the stage is going to be an interesting one. Instead of the usual duet performances, this week our contestants get a second solo song. Whether or not that second song will be judged (since the duets usually aren’t) is still a mystery, but it will allow us to see how the group does when performing two songs that are total opposites from each other: One that’s country, and one that falls into the rock genre.

In case you’re too anxious to wait for tonight’s show, we’ve got some spoilers for you. Here’s what we can expect to hear from the Top 6, courtesy of MJ’s Big Blog:

Jena Irene Asciutto:

Country: “So Small” by Carrie Underwood

Rock: “Barracuda” by Heart

Alex Preston:

Country: “Always on My Mind” by Willie Nelson

Rock: “Animal” by Neon Trees

Caleb Johnson

Country: “Undo It” by Carrie Underwood

Rock: “Sting Me” by The Black Crowes

CJ Harris:

Country: “Whatever It Is” by Zac Brown Band

Rock: “American Woman” by The Guess Who

Jess Meuse:

Country: “Jolene” by Dolly Parton

Rock: “Somebody to Love” by Jefferson Airplane

Sam Woolf:

Country: “You’re Still The One” by Shania Twain

Rock: “It’s Time” by Imagine Dragons

Two Carrie Underwood songs? Country themes are always a great time to pay homage to one of Idol’s most successful winners. And Sam taking on a Shania Twain song? We can’t wait to see that.

Tonight. 8 p.m. ET on Fox. Be there!
