Dancing With The Stars

Amy Purdy Injured on Dancing With the Stars Latin Night! Heads to Hospital, No Team Dance

Never mind Latin Night — Dancing With the Stars Season 18, Week 7 was Injury Night.

Danica McKellar broke her rib earlier in the week and still danced a Salsa. Charlie White caught his knee in his Paso Doble. And Amy Purdy ended up hurting herself in an unusual way after her Rumba with Derek Hough

Erin Andrews talked to Amy backstage, when it was clear she was in serious pain.

"My shoulder's been bothering me a little bit,” Amy explained. “It's been fine, though, just kind of sore. And then right after judging I turned my head and my back cracked and it just seized up and everything's really painful right now. It's hard to breathe."

Erin said they were going to get her off to the hospital to be checked out.

Amy said she was fine in the Rumba, but she was in pain going up the stairs for judging. She wanted to pull herself together for the team dance but she wasn’t sure it could happen.

It won’t happen. Because Amy got hurt, Erin explained, they were going to play the footage back from the dress rehearsal and the judges will judge from that. You have to feel bad for the other Team Loca dancers, too, including Danica, who is part of that team. As Tom Bergeron noted, this has only happened once before, when Melissa Rycroft was injured and they had to judge from her rehearsal footage.

Hopefully all the injuries are getting out of the way now. Heal fast, Amy! And Danica. And Charlie's knee. And Meryl's wrist. And Maks's leg/groin/whatever...

DWTS Season 18 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
