The Originals Season 1, Episode 20 Spoiler Roundup — “A Closer Walk with Thee”
Tonight brings an all-new episode of The Originals— otherwise known as the most addicting supernatural spin-off since Angel ditched Sunnydale and set up shop in the City of Angels. What’s going down in Season 1, Episode 20 (“A Closer Walk With Thee”)? We’ve rounded up everything we know about tonight’s installment!
Hayley’s in trouble again. Another episode, another threat against Hayley and her unborn child. According to the synopsis for the episode, “Hayley confronts a surprising enemy as she and her unborn baby fall into peril during a celebratory wake to honor a fallen member of the community.” We’re guessing the “celebratory wake” in question is for Father Kieran who died a horrible death in last week’s episode. As for the “surprising enemy,” your guess is as good as ours.
Everyone’s going to this funeral. Father Kieran was a pretty popular dude. It seems like everyone is turning up for his wake. In the promo photos for the episode, we see Davina, Klaus, Hayley, Elijah, Francesca, Marcel, and of course Cami all in attendance for the service. Cast party!
The teen witches are acting up. In an effort to save Hayley, the brothers Mikaelson are teaming up with Genevieve. Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like the witch is as valuable a teammate as one might initially assume. According to the synopsis, she “struggles to maintain control over Davina and the other young witches.” Teen witches. So temperamental, amirite?
The key is back. Remember that key Josh lifted from Kieran and delivered to Marcel in last week’s episode? Well, it’s back in the forefront tonight! According to the synopsis, “Cami tells Marcel that Francesca is determined to find a mysterious key that may unlock a family secret.” What secret does Kieran’s key unlock? And how far is Francesca willing to go to find it. We don’t trust the leader of the human faction. At all.
Daddy issues. As if Hayley’s latest impending doom wasn’t enough to deal with, Klaus is also suffering from “nightmares of his father,” most likely brought about by the disintegration of the Other Side currently going down. (Thanks, Vampire Diaries.) Though this sounds troubling for Klaus, it sounds great for us! Not only does it mean Sebastian Roche will be back as Klaus’ seriously evil (yet thoroughly delightful to watch) father Mikael, but the nightmare mean Klaus “is forced to examine his troubled relationship with his own adoptive son, Marcel.” Aww.
Marcel-focused flashbacks. Klaus’ paternal identity issues is the gift that keeps on giving. Apparently, examining his relationship with Marcel means flashbacks! Charles Michael Davis told E! Online: "It's actually flashbacks we were going to use in an earlier episode and the great thing was they watched them and they liked them so much they said we want to put them back. I'm really grateful for that!" Yay, for recycled flashbacks! This is very fiscally efficient of The Originals.
Hayley is having her own nightmares. It seems that Klaus is not the only one affected by the disintegration of the Other Side. In the promo for the ep, we hear Klaus explain that “the spirit world is crumbling.” Then, we get a shot of Hayley looking thoroughly freaked out as someone stalks towards her. “I’m dreaming. This is a nightmare,” she says in voiceover. “On the contrary, this is very real,” Mikael informs us. The promo ends with a shot of Hayley’s bloodied body and her scream. Uh oh.
Are you as excited for tonight’s episode as we are? Sound off in the comments below!
