Dancing With the Stars 2014: Is There Too Much Stripping Down?
Dancing With the Stars has always featured hot guys going shirtless and hot gals dancing in little more than bikinis, but for some, it looks like Season 18 has taken things to a whole new level, and Week 7's Latin Night was a perfect example.
Literally every guy on the show went shirtless at one point during Monday's show, and there was even a whole Twitter vote about if Tony Dovolani should strip down and show his abs again (answer: yes, duh). This week also brought us James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd's intentionally hyper-sexy Samba, which featured Peta prancing around in what quite literally looked like lingerie. Don't get us wrong: girl was hot. But was this particular brand of sexy really appropriate for an 8 p.m. family show?
We love us some eye candy as much as the next person, but we understand why some people are starting to say enough is enough. Even former pro Anna Trebunskaya dished to AfterBuzz TV that she wouldn't want her new daughter to watch the James and Peta number.
There are other arguments to be made against all the shirtlessness and barely-there outfits that have nothing to do with being family-friendly. Let's be honest: how many people could even keep their eyes on James or NeNe with their pro partners flashing so much skin next to them? We realize Dancing With the Stars is a mix of entertainment and real dance competition, but sometimes it seems like sex appeal is used to distract from sloppy dancing. Is that a good thing?
All that said — in the end, this is a TV show. And when you have so many hot people willing to flaunt what they have, why not? No one is hurt, and plenty of people love it!
