The Bachelorette

Bachelorette 6’s Craig Robinson Walking Overnight for Gia Allemand’s Memory

Craig Robinson has long been one of our favorite members of the Bachelor Nation. The handsome funny man has always handled himself with wit and charm, and now we love him even more than we thought possible. Why? Because today the 31-year-old tweeted that he’s going to take part in the Philadelphia Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk in late June. His team name is Team Gia, in honor of Gia Allemand. Perfect.

For those of you new to the Bachelor Nation, Gia Allemand appeared on The Bachelor Season 14 and Bachelor Pad Seasons 1 and 2. Gia took her own life on August 12, 2013, leaving her close-knit Bachelor Nation family reeling. The Out of the Darkness walk is a charity event organized by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention aimed at raising awareness for and preventing suicide.

Craig’s post on his team page reads, “Please support me as I take an amazing journey in the memory of Gia. The Out of the Darkness Overnight Experience is an 16-18 mile walk over the course of one night. Net proceeds benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, funding research, advocacy, survivor support, education, and awareness programs – both to prevent suicide and to assist those affected by suicide.”

Craig and Gia were friends through the Bachelor Nation network, and Craig attended Gia’s funeral last summer, as did numerous members of the Bachelor Nation. Craig is no stranger to raising money for Gia’s cause. Back in December, Craig and Gia’s mom united to raise money, again in awareness of suicide, in honor of what would have been Gia’s 30th birthday.

Bachelor Nation is still hurting from Gia’s untimely death, and we are so glad to see that Craig is memorializing her in this fashion. You can contribute to his cause here and follow him on Twitter to hear more about his causes.
