Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin Spotted Out to Dinner Together (UPDATE)

Original story (May 2, 2014): Admittedly, we’re not 100 percent sure what “conscious uncoupling” entails, but going out to dinner with your estranged husband? Seems a bit chummy for two folks looking to dissolve their marriage.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin were all smiles as they grabbed a meal together at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica. Typically we’d just chalk this up to a meet-and-greet to talk about co-parenting but the fact that the pair kept their reunion so low profile has our antenna buzzing. In fact, they were so determined not to be spotted they snuck out the back. You can see the photos in the video below!

Granted, perhaps they wanted to avoid any kind of “reunited and it feels so good” headline but for a couple who supposedly couldn’t bear to be in the same room together just a month, going out to eat as a pair seems like a big step.

Perhaps Chris’ tell-all interview with BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe came up during the meal. The Coldplay frontman got as candid as he’s ever been about his and Gwyneth’s relationship, telling Zane (via E! News), “You can be with someone very wonderful, but because of your own issues you cannot let that be celebrated in the right way.”

What’s the opposite of conscious uncoupling? Catatonic canoodling?

Update (June 10, 2014): Photos potentially from this dinner date — showing Chris and Gwyneth smiling and looking at her phone together — have been published by other outlets. Since they seem to have come from a private Instagram account, we won't publish them here, but you can click here to check them out.
