The Voice Season 6 Top 8 contestants really showed the audience what they were made of on May 5, 2014, with their insane range of vocals and impressive artistic renditions of popular hit tracks. Of course, all of the contestants did their absolute best, but who stood from the rest?
Team Adam Levine’s Christina Grimmie definitely did her thing with her pop ballad rendition of Lil’ Wayne’s “How To Love,” but considering last week she did almost the same thing with Drake’s “Hold On,” we weren’t completely blown away.
Her teammate Delvin Choice did an amazing job (as always) with R. Kelly’s iconic tune, “I Believe I Can Fly,” while Team Usher’s Josh Kaufman continued to impress us with his take on “I Can’t Make You Love Me” by Bonnie Raitt. Team Blake Shelton’s Sisaundra Lewis amazed us when she (finally) sang a Tina Turner hit — “River Deep Mountain High” — that was able to show just how powerful and timeless her sound is.
And even though Sisaundra’s teammate Jake Worthington was able to push through his cold to give a charming rendition of “Hillbilly Deluxe” by Brooks & Dunn, we had to give the best performance of the night to Team Adam’s Kat Perkins.
Let’s face it, Kat was able to take Daft Punk (feat. Pharrell Williams)’s “Get Lucky” from a funky-electro pop tune to a heavy metal head banger, and we couldn’t be anymore impressed with how completely different the song sounded. Oh, and did we mention that we liked it way more than we expected to? Yeah, like Usher, we wish that we had tons of hair to bang out to that performance too!
