New Girl Star Upped to Series Regular — Congratulations, Coach! (VIDEO)
Whistles at the ready? Good because New Girl’s resident coach has been promoted! Damon Wayans, Jr., who plays the show’s lovable whistle-blower, has officially been upped to a series regular for the FOX hit’s fourth season. We think that deserves a high-five!
Damon re-joined the cast of the show after originally ducking out after the pilot back in 2011, a casting change that had the silver lining of bringing on the character of Winston (Lamorne Morris) and by extension his perfect kitten Ferguson. Damon’s return two years later has been well-received obviously not only by us New Girl fans but by the powers that be over at FOX.
Since Coach is going to be around come Season 4, we’ve got a few questions. First, could something actually blossom between him and Cece (Hannah Simone)? We wouldn’t be opposed to their romance actually taking off though, no lie, we’d much prefer to see Cece give Schmidt (Max Greenfield) another shot.
Second question: Will Coach keep his job working with Jess (Zooey Deschanel)? He’s been a great addition to her school as the P.E. teacher but now that his roommate is also his boss we could see some conflicts of interest arising, most likely with hilarious results.
