The two have only shared one scene together, back in Season 1 during the Tourney of the Hand when they almost killed each other, but we know that there is no love lost between the two. The Mountain was responsible for the Hound’s maiming and subsequent fear of fire, and the Hound has intimated many times that he wishes his brother dead. So will the Hound kill the Mountain?

While the Hound may want to kill the Mountain, we’re afraid he won’t get the chance. If the book follows the show, the Mountain is going to die a slow painful death following his duel with Oberyn Martell at the trial of Tyrion Lannister, robbing the Hound of his chance for revenge.
Things aren’t going to go so well for the Hound, either. He is going to be grievously wounded in a fight and left for dead by Arya, meaning that he may not even live to hear that his brother has been killed. So with both Clegane brothers dying miles apart from one another, it sure seems like we’ll never get the confrontation between the two we’ve all been looking forward to. Or will we?
The book leaves open the possibility that the two characters are still alive. It is all but confirmed that Ser Robert Strong, a giant knight introduced to King’s Landing by Qyburn after treating the Mountain, is the reanimated body of the Mountain. Meanwhile, it is also implied that the Hound does not die of his wounds, but rather is living out his days as a reformed monk. If this is true, we might be treated to the “Cleganebowl” one day after all. Get hyped!
