Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is not going to take Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) death well — but will he be able to save his brother from permanent death? Here’s what we know about Damon’s efforts in the Vampire Diaries Season 5 finale!
According to the synopsis for Season 5, Episode 22 (“Home”), "Heartbroken by an unexpected tragedy, Damon is focused on holding himself together, while pushing Bonnie harder than ever to find a way to stop the disintegration of the Other Side.” This sounds promising — though how does poor Bonnie (Kat Graham) always end up being the person everyone is pressuring to fix the oncoming magical apocalypse? Bon Bon can’t even get some peace-and-quiet to pre-mourn her imminent death. Geez.
It sounds like, whatever Damon has planned, he actually pulls it off — if what he’s going for is a massive explosion: “Damon’s plan causes a massive explosion in Mystic Falls, and everyone is caught up in the confusion, leaving a trail of heroism, sacrifice, relief and despair." And, given what we have seen in the promo for the finale, it looks like the gang really is hoping for an explosion, so good news?
If Damon can’t save Stefan, then perhaps Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Caroline (Candice Accola) will be able to. We also learn from the synopsis that “Elena takes matters into her own hands and demands that Liv and Luke help her, but Liv refuses to cooperate until Caroline provides her with some personal motivation.” Will the vampire besties be able to convince Wonder Twin #1 to bring Stefan back? Is this even within her power?
Whatever happens, Stefan best be coming back from the Other Side. We can’t face a Season 6 without our favorite hero-haired brooder…
