Mariah Carey’s Catchy New Single “Thirsty” ft. Rich Homie Quan — Hear It Here! (VIDEO)
It’s been a minute since Mariah Carey released a radio-friendly hit — as much as we loved “You’re Mine (Eternal)” it wasn’t exactly an earworm — but just in time for summer, the songstress (or should we say chanteuse?) is back! This time, she’s enlisted the help of rapper Rich Homie Quan for the upbeat sure-to-be-hit “Thirsty.”
To be honest, Mariah is often at her best when she’s paired up with one of hip hop’s hottest acts, and that’s what she’s doing here. Call it her 2014 version of “Heartbreaker,” because this one is both rap-influenced (the beat even sounds eerily like Jay Z and Kanye West’s “Ni***s in Paris”) and a breakup anthem.
“You're thirsty, so thirsty / It's not my fault / You had a glass waiting for you but you ain't come,” Mariah sings in the chorus of the lead single off her fourteenth studio album, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse.
Not only do Mimi’s vocals sound on point in this Hotlanta-inspired tune (Rich Homie Quan hails from the A), but the tune is just so. darn. catchy! If you don’t immediately take to the track, try it again — you won’t be able to get it out of your head after a few listens.
